This building was the gift of Andrew Carnegie, AD 1905.

Milton sitting on the left; Shakespeare on the right; Carnegie's cartouche is inside the porch, above the door.

Erected in 1905, confirms that, as for the Islington Library, the architect was Henry Hare and the sculptor was Schenck.
