The Children's Unit, the London Hospital Whitechapel, was inaugurated by Her Majesty the Queen, Patron of the Hospital, 5th July 1990.

The two plaques are on the building behind the statue.

2019: reported that this hospital is going "About To Undergo A Stunning Renovation" and they give some history too. Then posted photos of the statue moved, from the small courtyard north of Stepney Way, to a modern arcade just south of the hospital's Stepney Way Entrance.
