Vera Lynn Close E7
This close is named after "Forces' sweetheart" Dame Vera Lynn, from East Ham, whose songs were popular in World War II.
London Borough of Newham

This sign was installed to celebrate Lynn's 100th birthday, but we don't know when the street was named for her.

E7, Vera Lynn Close

This is an unusual street, more like a car park with one entrance and surrounded by houses which front the car park and turn their backs on the main roads around them.  Very nearby is Anna Neagle Close, the road connecting these two local dames being Dames Road. Someone in the Council was having fun.
