Singer, songwriter and actress Dame Vera Lynn (b. 1917), the "Forces' sweetheart" whose songs were enormously popular during World War II, lived in this street from 1921 to 1938.

Lynn lived in this street from the age of 4 -21. The street name panel was installed to celebrate her 100th birthday. There is an identical nameplate across the road.

We can find no evidence of her acting or song-writing abilities.
