Docklands Light Railway Lewisham Extension opened 22 November 1999.
This is part of the cutter head from the front of the tunnel boring machine used to drive the twin tunnels under the River Thames from Island Gardens to Lewisham.

The rectangular aluminium plaque is on the cutter head which has been painted in a Union Jack-inspired scheme.
