Plaque

Duchy of Lancaster

Inscription

{In the belt around the 3 lions:}
Duchy of Lancaster

The 3 lions are the symbol for the Duchy of Lancaster, owned privately by the monarch. We understand the Savoy Estate is the only part of London within the Duchy.

Site: Duchy of Lancaster boundary marker - Embankment (1 memorial)

WC2, Embankment

This boundary marker was brought to our attention by A . You can see it in our photo, at the bottom of the curved wall. It marks the historic boundary of the Manor of Savoy which became part of the Duchy of Lancaster in the 1200s.

Apparently there are more of these boundary markers in this area but we've never spotted them. Let us know if you see any.
