Bust

Duke of Cumberland

Erection date: 1892

When this pub was built in 1892 the Duke of Cumberland was Ernest Augustus, the 3rd Duke, who while crown prince of Hanover was also a lieutenant general in the British Army. We could find no image of him that justifies the handsome and romantic (guano-splattered) bust on the pub. Another candidate would be William Duke of Cumberland.

Site: Duke of Cumberland (1 memorial)

SW6, New Kings Road, Duke on the Green, 235

Built in 1892 by the architect Robert J. Cruwys. Both elevations have a bust of the Duke placed centrally on the attic parapet.
