Plaque

Duke of Edinburgh visit

Inscription

Metropolitan Borough of Saint Pancras
This stone commemorates the visit of H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh K.G. to the Regent's Park development area on the first of December 1955.
Councillor Mrs I.M.C. Bonham M.A. J.P. L.C.C. Mayor., R.C.E. Austin L.L.M. Town Clerk.

Our researches show that when a Mrs I.M.C. Pigg stood for election as a Labour councillor in 1946 she failed to gain the necessary support, but in 1948 as Mrs I.M.C. Bonham she was successful. One can only imagine the marital conversations that led to the name change.
