Honouring the bravery and sacrifice of Billy Faust and Adam Meere of Whitechapel Fire Station who gave their lives in the line of duty on Bethnal Green Road, London.

From : "The first memorial plaque to honour the lives of firefighters who were killed in the line of duty will be unveiled ... tomorrow (December 1). This important first memorial, ..., is part of a series to be funded by the Firefighters 100 Lottery. ... the Red Plaque Scheme ...  to commemorate those who have been killed on duty. The FBUs good causes lottery, launched one year ago, will fund a number of other memorial plaques around the UK in the coming months. The Firefighters 100 Lottery will benefit a whole range of good causes."

This plaque is about a third of a mile to the east of 419 Bethnal Green Road, the site of the 2004 fire. From : "Fire crews from Whitechapel and Bethnal Green hold an annual minute’s silence at 8am every July 20 outside 419 Bethnal Green Road, which remains derelict 13 years on."

2021: Building still looks unoccupied.

This memorial is only a few yards away from another memorial to people who died in a fire trying to save others, a hundred years earlier: the Denman fountain.
