Once a slave in Jamaica, Francis Barber, Samuel Johnson's servant, friend and heir, lived here 1752 - 1756.

The plaque is on the railings below the Royal Society of Arts one.

Dec 2020: our colleague Alan Patient spotted that this plaque has gone missing. Surely the BBC History plaques were not meant to be temporary?

The house is a museum, open to the public and contains many pictures of Johnson and his friends. The Barber plaque is on the railings below the Johnson one.
