Inscription

Friendship Tree (Koelreutaria paniculata or Pride of India) planted by Lord Mayor of Westminster, Angela Hooper, C.B.E. in the distinguished presence of H.E. Dr. L.M. Singhvi, High Commissioner for India in UK. To commemorate the 125th Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, apostle of non violence and to mark Indo-British togetherness, 25th November 1994.

{That's the text for the tree to the east; the other plaque reads identically but Dr Singhvi did the planting in the presence of the Lord Mayor.}
