(lost) Great Storm - Victoria Park

Inscription

London Plane Platanus X Hispanica. This tree was planted by his Worship the Mayor of Tower Hamlets Councillor Brian Williams (Chairman of Bow Parks Board) as a symbolic gesture of the intentions of the board to regenerate the tree population of Victoria Park which was devastated during the great storm of 16th October, 1987.

We originally photographed this plaque in 2010. Returning in 2016, we found that the empty small white plinth to the right of the tree was all that remains, the plaque was gone.
