Hackney Wick war memorial

Inscription

To the memory of Hackney Wick men who fell in the Great War, 1914 - 1919.
{The list of names that follows has become illegible.}

2016: We took a close-up photo of the most legible corner - the rest is just gray mottled lettering on gray mottled marble - to show why we decided to save our eyesight. As part of the WW1 commemorations the  are working hard to restore war memorials where necessary including making the inscriptions legible. They have raised this problem with Hackney Council so we hope the letters will get repainted soon. If you notice that the work has been done please let us know so we can return and transcribe the names.

As soon as we published this Tom Long wrote to say the names are available at , where it looks like about 130 names.
