Inscription

Dame Henrietta Barnett, D.B.E., founder of The Hampstead Garden Suburb, lived here, 1915 - 1936.

Prior to the death of her husband in 1913, Dame Henrietta Barnett had been living with him at St Jude's Cottage at Spaniard's Inn. On his death she sold St Jude's and moved to South Square from where she continued to oversee the development of the Suburb, often being seen in a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce.
