Look left to St James's Square and right to St James's Church in Jermyn Street. All this was the inspiration of one man: Henry Jermyn, Earl of St Albans, KG, 1605 - 1684, diplomat, favourite of Queen Henrietta Maria and "founder of the West End" who died in his house on this site.
