Site: Highgate Camp & Dawbarn Young (2 memorials)

N6, Swains Lane, 107

The two plaques are inside the porch facing each other. The one to J. Dawbarn Young himself, facing north, seems better protected from the weather.

This roofed gate structure is known as a lich (or lych) gate and is normally found at the entry to churchyards where it was used during funerals as a temporary shelter for the bier.
