This tree was planted in memory of those who perished in the Holocaust, 1939 to 1945, by the Mayor and past Mayors, London Borough of Southwark and Rev. Alan Greenbat, OBE, 27th January 2002.

At  we learn that regular remembrance ceremonies are held here on Holocaust Memorial Day (27 January, the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz by the Red Army), Victory Day (9 May, the day on which Russia celebrates the defeat of Nazism in Europe) and Remembrance Sunday.Â
