Italian Garden - Albert

Site: Italian Garden (2 memorials)

W2, Kensisngton Gardens

Our photo shows the south-west corner of the garden presided over by Victoria. Albert watches over the south-east corner. Each profile is wreathed in laurels and surmounted with a crown. This lovely garden, like many Victorian creations, Prince Albert's idea, was designed by Sir James Pennethorne. The pumphouse/shelter, at the northern end was designed by Sir Charles Barry and Robert Banks.
