Lou Reed and Iggy Pop and the Stooges played their first UK shows here, 14-15 July 1972. Mick Rock was there. His photos became the LP covers for Transformer and Raw Power.

Promoter Tony Defries hired King's Cross Cinema, now Scala, for July 14-15, 1972, to put on the successive London debuts of Lou Reed and Iggy Pop to coincide with the start of David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust tour.

In our photo the plaque can be seen just above the cyclist's backpack.
