Lewisham pump

Inscription

{On the plaque:}
This pump was made by George Turner of Dorset Street, Fleet Street in the 1830's and erected, it is thought, for the residents of Exchequer Place, a group of houses which was demolished when the adjacent workhouse, now part of the hospital, expanded about 1891. The pump was restored by Lewisham Regeneration in 2001, as part of a series of environmental improvements to Rushey Green, which is listed in the London Squares Act 1932. Funding was provided by Transport for London and the restoration work was researched and carried out by Acorn Restorations Ltd.
