Lily Pond

Erection date: 1915

Inscription

This lily pond was presented in 1915 by Mr. Alfred Buxton, Chairman of the London County Council, 1916 - 1917.

Buxton seems to have presented the pond the year before he became Chairman. This is unusual, presumably because it looks a little like the post was bought. However, the plaque is clearly modern and is perhaps not telling the whole story.

Sadly there were no lilies in the pond on our visit.
