Lisa Pontecorvo - mural

From : "The mural has been there for years and Lisa wanted it to be brightened up. She arranged for it to be re-done before she died. She died on the Monday and the artist came in on the Tuesday. We thought it would be a nice idea to put Lisa in there."

Our main photo shows the mural before the northern end was repainted to include Lisa, as the figure at the right, holding the placard resting on the ground. Lisa was the campaigner who saved this garden for the community. For information see our page for the whole mural.

N1, Copenhagen Street

A modern information board informs that Edward Square was built in 1853, a housing development with an enclosed garden, part of which was opened to the public in 1888, one of the first London public gardens. It suffered WW2 bomb damage and was cleared, eventually becoming this park which was opened in 2000.
