Inscription

The National Maritime Museum, occupying the former buildings of the Greenwich Royal Hospital School, was opened on 27 April 1937 by His Majesty King George VI, being the first public act of his reign.

These galleries were re-opened on 11 May 1999 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
