Princess Seraphine Astafieva, 1876 - 1934, ballet dancer, lived and taught here, 1916 - 1934.

It was here that she taught, amongst others, Marie Rambert, Margot Fonteyn, Alicia Markova, and Anton Dolin, many of whom went on to dance for Diaghilev's Ballets Russes.
