{On the plaque:}
This plaque was given by Miss Julia Minet and erected by Miss Octavia Hill in 1896. It was restored in 1956 by The Horace Street Trust.
The roundel was created by a glass-making firm, James Powell and Son, after a sketch by Louisa Anne, Marchioness of Waterford. The quotation is from Matthew 13:3. Originally there was a second mosaic entitled 'The Good Shepherd', but this is now presumed lost.
The mosaic was restored again in 2005 when the gardens were restored.
