The wording of the plaque is a group effort. 'The man, the myth the legend was suggested by his daughter Bonnie. 'Pan global phenomenon' was used by Mayall to describe himself.
He was awarded an honorary doctorate by Exeter University and 'Equality, opportunity, wisdom, freedom & love', ( the five mantras of his life) were part of .  'Barbara: love is the answer' was something he often said to his wife.

We revisited the site recently and noted that a lot of the 'tributes' (including the soiled underpants) have been removed.
