Robert Devereux bust

Erection date: 1676

Inscription

{Inscribed on the scrolled plinth:}
This is Devereux Court, 1676.

Site: Robert Devereux bust (1 memorial)

WC2, Devereux Court

This bust was brought to our attention by , where its claim to carry the oldest inscription in London is debunked.  The bust is at third floor level in a narrow passage - don't know how we missed it.

The building was erected in 1676 and soon became the Grecian Coffee House which it remained until about 1842.
