Rossetti & Swinburne

Inscription

Dante Gabriel Rossetti, 1828 - 1882, and Algernon Charles Swinburne, 1837 - 1909, lived here.
London County Council

Site: Rossetti & Swinburne (1 memorial)

SW3, Cheyne Walk, 16

Rossetti kept a menagerie in his back garden, much to the annoyance of his neighbours. It included a bull, a white peacock, a kangaroo, a raccoon and a wombat which had a liking for ladies’ hats. Consequently local house leases now forbid the keeping of such creatures.
