N1, Old Royal Free Square

The hospital vacated this site in 1975 and in 1986 the Circle 33 Housing Trust  and the New Islington and Hackney Housing Association jointly bought it. Circle 33 developed the western part, New Islington and Hackney the eastern.

Building work began in 1989 and the site was converted into 178 flats and houses. It was one of the largest housing association projects undertaken.
