Shakespeare - EC2

Erection date: 21/4/2016

Inscription

William Shakespeare had lodgings near here in 1604, at the house of Christopher and Mary Mountjoy.
City of London

Unveiled by actor Fiona Shaw to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's birth.

Site: Shakespeare - EC2 (1 memorial)

EC2, Noble Street, St Olave's churchyard, Silver Street

From old maps the location of Shakespeare's home, given as the junction of Silver Street and Monkwell Street (neither still in existence), was actually about where the giant red and blue vents are. It certainly was not in this churchyard.
