Inscription

This monument, built with the aid of funds donated by the Pilgrim Trust, was erected by The London Celebrations Committee for the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II after the clearance of old warehouses between the river Thames and Southwark Cathedral, on a site given by the proprietors of Hay's Wharf Ltd, in July 1977.
