Inscription

{Inscribed in the front face of the stone plinth and repeated on a brass plaque down at ground level:}
Sir Sydney H. Waterlow, Bart., donor of this park, 1886. Lord Mayor of London 1872 - 1878.
Erected by public subscription, 1900.

Bronze. Unveiled by Princess of Argyll 20 July 1900. A year later another version was unveiled at Westminster City School. Are these the only statues in London with an umbrella?
