Site: Sloane Square drinking fountain (1 memorial)

SW1, Sloane Square

Via we found the Council-produced '' which tells us: "Originally this fountain, which cost £50 and funded by Miss Knightingale, was erected on Elgin Road in 1882. It was reinstalled at Sloane Square in 1883. The inscription reads, 'Revered husband and father from his loving wife and children' and presumably was added when it was moved."  That presumption must surely be wrong since the full inscription includes the date 1882.

Andrew Behan has sent us the which confirms our suspicions that the 1882 Elgin Road is now Elgin Avenue, renamed as such in 1886.  And the good people at  tell us it used to be in Harrow Road so by use of Venn diagram we deduce that it was at the junction.
