Statue

Statue of young boy

Erection date: 1928

Inscription

{On the book held by the boy:}
Lawyers, I suppose, were children once. . . .

{on the base:}
Margaret Wrightson, Sc.

The quotation is from Lamb's essay on the old benchers of the Inner Temple.

A 1775 statue was first erected here in 1928 but it was stolen in 1970. The following year this fibreglass copy was erected. It looks to us like a very modern version of a 1775 statue.
