Site: Temperance Hospital (1 memorial)

NW1, Hampstead Road

2007 and this building will not exist much longer so we were glad to find a memorial. The building is looking very sad but renovation could have created an attractive residential building.

Another foundation stone in the courtyard, laid in 1879 for the original building, we think, states that the hospital is "for the treatment of medical and surgical cases without the use of alcohol". This puzzled us but it seems that it was then common practice for alcohol to be prescribed for patients.

2017: reports that the building has been demolished for development and that time capsules were found behind both these plaques.
