Boiler House, this building was originally used as a boiler house during the construction of Marc Isambard Brunel's Thames tunnel between 1825 and 1843. It has since had many alterations and changes of use. It was restored in 1979.

The plaque can be seen in our photo, above the hedge towards the left.
Following a 2016 campaign another memorial was erected nearby to commemorate all those Camberwell citizens lost in WW1.
The plaque refers to the Verbruggens as brothers, when in fact they were father and son.
