The Chase - street party - jubilee

Inscription

The Chase Golden Jubilee Street Party held on 3rd June 2002 in the presence of HRH Princess Alexandra.

We were initially surprised to see that the date was a Monday which seemed an odd day to hold a party. But our colleague Alan Patient reminded us that an extra bank holiday was awarded that year, specifically to enable Golden Jubilee street parties. And the Spring bank holiday which would naturally have been on Monday 27 May was moved to Tuesday 4 June, presumably to allow for those who partied too hard the day before.
