This foundation stone was laid by H.R.H. The Duke of Gloucester G.C.V.O. on the 31st October 1990 to inaugurate the construction of this building on behalf of The Master Wardens and Commonalty of the Mystery of Vintners, and Wates City of London Properties P.L.C.

'Mystery' is from the Latin meaning 'professional skill'.
