Plaque

W. Stuart Surridge

Inscription

Surrey County Cricket Club
This plaque records the winning of the County Cricket Championship 1952 by the Surrey County XI.
The team won 20 of the 28 matches played, and was captained by Mr W. Stuart Surridge.
Presented by Doulton & Co. Ltd. London, SE1

Apart from the lovely Wall of Heroes plaques, this is the only plaque we know by Doulton's. The firm may have created many but this is the only one, of which we are aware, which carries the Doulton name. We can't find the erection date but presumably it was shortly after 1952, perhaps in that celebratory year, 1953.

Site: W. Stuart Surridge (1 memorial)

SE11, Kennington Oval, near Members entrance

The plaque is just to the right of the entrance with the white arch, which is itself just to the right of the Members Entrance, assuming the function of that entrance has not changed since the ornate stone label above was erected.
