Strawberry tree
Planted in 2014 to celebrate local high streets. The strawberry tree features on a wallpaper printed by the William Morris Company. Native to the Mediterranean region it is also found in southern Ireland.
The name unedo can be explained as "I eat one", referring to the bitter and mealy taste of the fruit.

Our best guess is that the strawberry tree is the small one in the middle.
The Strawberry tree, Arbutus Unedo is an evergreen shrub or small tree in the family Ericaceae, native to the Mediterranean region and western Europe and Ireland. In Ireland it is known as either 'Irish strawberry tree', or cain or cane apple. The fruit does look remarkably like strawberries.
This seems a very odd location for a tree and a plaque to "celebrate local high streets".
