A London territorial unit which served in WW1 and beyond.
It was formed on 1 April 1908 under the Haldane Reforms which created Territorial Force regiments.
The 22nd (County of London) Battalion, The London Regiment (The Queen's), had its origins in the 3rd Volunteer Battalion, The Queen's (Royal West Surrey Regiment). The Battalion received its Colours on 19 June 1909 at Windsor Castle from HM King Edward VII.
It remained in being until The London Regiment was disbanded in 1937 when the Battalion was split into the 1st/6th (Bermondsey) Battalion and the 2nd/6th (Bermondsey) Battalion of The Queen's Royal Regiment (West Surrey).
