Alderman Henry Edward Tate

Three times mayor of Bethnal Green (1934-6 and 1949-50), and the only Freeman of the Borough. Awarded an OBE in 1964.

1918 married Beatrice Lilian who was equally active in local politics. This image is an extract of the photo taken on the occasion of his wife's Mayoralty.
