Andrew Thompson

A prominent church member of his local church in Lexden, Colchester, killed in the Ladbroke Grove rail disaster, aged 52.

Andrew Behan has kindly carried out further research: Andrew William Thompson was born on 29 July 1947 in Liverpool, Lancashire. In 1970 he married Pamela A. Walker in Southport, Lancashire and they had four daughters, Elizabeth, Wendy, Rebecca and Alison. Divorced, he was an accountant and moved to 62 Marlowe Way, Lexden, Colchester, Essex, where he was a parishioner of the local St Leonards Church and served on the parish council as their treasurer. He died, aged 52 years, on 5 October 1999 when travelling to new job in Slough, Berkshire, aboard the 8.06am Thames Trains Turbo train from Paddington to Bedwyn, Wiltshire, when it collided with the 6.03am First Great Western High Speed Train from Cheltenham Spa, Gloucestershire to Paddington at Ladbroke Grove.
