Arthur Mee

Arthur Mee

Author and journalist. Born at Stapleford, near Nottingham. He started his career working for a local newspaper. In 1908 he began working on a fortnightly magazine called 'The Children's Encyclopaedia'. Following the success of this, he started publishing the Children's Newspaper, which was the first paper specifically aimed at children.  Published weekly from March 1919, it merged with 'Look and Learn' in May 1965.
