Andrew Behan has researched this man:

Arthur Philip Hickman Stride was born on 23 July 1894 in Wimborne, Dorset, the ninth of the eleven children Charles Thomas Stride and Martha Stride née Hickman. His father was a Sanitary Inspector having previously served as a Serjeant-Major the 6th Dragoon Guards. He was baptised on 2 September 1894 in Wimborne Minster and the family resided at 43 East Borough, Wimborne. The 1901 census shows the family still living at the same address. An entry in The London Gazette dated 27 November 1914 records 'Private Arthur Philip Hickman Stride to Second Lieutenant in the 5th (Renfrewshire) Battalion, Princess Louise's (Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders)'. The Battalion left Devonport for Gallipoli on 1 June 1915 and he arrived in Alexandria on 15 June 1915. He was injured and received a Silver War Badge, Certificate No.149315, that was sent to his home at Moor Hall, Hindhead, Surrey. He was subsequently awarded the 1914-15 Star, the British War Medal 1914-1918 and the Victory Medal.

On 2 February 1920 he was initiated as a Freemason in the St Cuthberga Lodge No.622 that meets in Wimborne and his occupation was listed as a Marine Engineer. On 24 September 1926 he married Ivy Emily Miller at St Peter's Church, Belaugh, Norfolk and their son, Timothy de Burgh Hickman Stride, was born on 11 May 1929. The 1939 England and Wales Register shows him and his wife living at Flat 9 Alexandra Mansions, 333 Kings Road, London, SW3. He was listed as an L.C.C. Ambulance Officer and his wife as a Masseuse. He continued to live at 9 Alexandra Mansions until his death on 8 March 1979, aged 84 years. Probate was granted and his estate totalled £49,391.00.
