Baroness Flather

Chairman {sic} of The Memorial Gates Trust.

She was born as Shreela Rai on 13 February 1934 in Lahore, Punjab, British India (now Pakistan), the daughter of Aftab Rai (d.1972) and Krishna Rai (d.1989).

She married Ewin Anthony Paul De Bernier (1930-2018) in the 3rd quarter of 1954 in the Kensington registration district and they had one child, Paul Charles Ram De Bernier (b. 28 December 1954) whose birth was registered in the 1st quarter of 1955 in the Chelmsford registration district.

She later married Gerald 'Gary' Denis Flather, QC, OBE, (1937-2017) in the 1st quarter of 1966 in the Surrey Mid Eastern registration district. Her son also adopted her new husband's surname. Telephone directories and electoral registers from 1968 show their address to have been Triveni, Ascot Road, Braywick, Maidenhead, SL6 2HT.
