Brass Crosby

Brass Crosby

Born Stockton-on-Tees. 'Brass' was his mother's family name. Lord Mayor of London. Lived in Essex Street. The obelisk at St George's Circus names Crosby since it was during his mayoralty that the new roads converging on the Circus were built. There is a blue plaque in Court Lodge, Church Road, Chelsfield, Kent, which he inherited through his wife and where he lived for 21 years.

Died at home in Chatham Place. This street, at the north end of the bridge, was created as part of the new street layout associated with Blackfriars Bridge and St George's Circus.
