Capt Louis Henry Bedford

Died as a result of serving in the Indian War 1857-8. HM 37th Regiment. From we learn that there is a stone to Bedford in St Margaret's Church Westminster: "In memory of Louis Henry Bedford, Captain in Her Majesty's 37th Regiment. Born 7th June 1819, killed on the 27th March 1858 in a sortie from the entrenchments at Azimghur in the East Indies".  He was educated at Westminster School, as was his brother George Sale Bedford (1816-70), and was son of George Bedford of Bedford Row in London, solicitor, and his second wife Harriet daughter of Colonel Sale. Louis joined the army in 1842 and served in the Indian Rebellion."
