Commissioner in the St John Ambulance Brigade, No. 1 District, 1921-1947. Knight Grace in the Order of St John.

The carries an obituary: "Captain William Goodley, O.B.E.. M.C. of Gidea Park, Commissioner of No. 1 (Prince of Wales's District), St. John Ambulance Brigade, who was responsible for the organisation of dressing stations and first-aid posts involving some 10,000 ambulance workers at the Coronation, died on Friday after a long illness. He was 68. Capt. Goodley was also responsible for the first-aid arrangements for the King George Silver Jubilee procession in London, and for the Royal funeral route in January, 1936.

"He retired three years ago from a responsible position with the L.N.E.R., having served that company and the old G.E.R. for 50 years. Captain in the R.A.M.C. during the first World War, he gained the M.C. for gallantry in conducting a field hospital under enemy fire in France. He was awarded the O.B.E for untiring ambulance work. He leaves a widow, four sons and a daughter."
