Central YMCA

The original Central YMCA on the corner of Great Russell Street was designed by architect R. Plumbe. It opened in 1911 and included halls for meetings, restaurants, a gym, swimming baths, social rooms, a boys department and 240 bedrooms. The new brutalist replacement, designed by Ellesworth Sykes Partnership, opened in 1977.  See YMCA for the main group.
